Current Big Blue U12 Players and Coaches Showing Off the Championship Trophy
The Indoor Youth Football League (IYFL) Rookie Green Team completed their perfect 8-0 season by winning the Championship game in dramatic fashion. Down 18-8 with 1:55 remaining, QB Anthony Pizl hit his U12 teammate this fall, Tyler Gates for a 35 yard bomb to pull within 4 at 18-14.
The defense, led by Gates and other teammates on this fall's U12 team, Chase Powers and Brayden Fulkert had an unbelievable stand and got the ball back with 29 seconds left.
With the game on the line Pizl called for some trickery and handed the ball to Gates on what looked like a jet sweep. But Gates pulled up just short of the line of scrimmage and threw the game winning touchdown pass to a wide open receiver in the end zone.
Besides this fall's U12 players Pizl, Gates, Fulkert and Powers, the championship green team also was stacked with former Big Blue players Micah Gentry, Kai Baker and Cynsere Johnson. The team was also helped early in the season by another Big Blue Alumnus, Isaiah Jones, who moved to California.
With the spring indoor championship won, Pizl, Gates, Fulkert and Powers have their eyes on leading the Big Blue U12 team to another title this fall in the Narrows League.
